Hair Care Tips
Before Installation
- Co-Wash all bundles and hair pieces before instillation for best results.
- When rinsing hair make sure ALL the product is rinsed out, failure to do so will cause, product buildup, dull, sticky, stiff and frizzy hair extensions. Rinsing hair extensions should take about 10-15 mins to ensure all the product is free from your extensions.`
- To check that all product is rinsed out of hair extensions let hair air dry, if the hair is free of product it will feel soft and not sticky, sticky hair still has product in it and needs to be rinsed out.
-
Cut little to NO wefts, cutting your wefts promotes more shedding then usual.
- When installing/wig making inform your stylist to NOT sew through the weft, sewing through the weft alters and damages the weft causing shedding (starting and ending is acceptable, not continuously).
Daily Maintenance
-
Co-Wash Hair once a week and deep condition once every two weeks. (Mandatory for longevity)
-
Refrain from using shampoo with sulfate and parabens, doing so can shorten the lifespan of your extensions, sulfate and parabens dry out your extensions and strips the hair of its natural oils, its important to keep the hair as moisturized as possible to upkeep the longevity of the hair. If shampoo is needed we recommend Ogx Brand (No sulfates or parabens) and BEDHEAD (Red & Blue Bottle-note has sulfate not to be used frequently)
- When Shampooing/Co-washing DO NOT wash your hair as you would your natural hair rubbing the together in between your fingers, wash in a downward motion and use a shower/wide tooth comb to distribute the product evenly DO NOT rub hair together, rinse in a downward motion
- When de-tangling hair extensions start from the end and work your way up to the wefts, this is a sure way you wont break any strands of hair causing shedding
-
NEVER sleep on wet/damp hair, if you must sleep on damp hair, have your extensions be braided in plats or twist. Sleeping on wet/damp hair can cause tangling and matting that sometimes cant be reversed.
- Remember Oil is NOT moisture, after co-washing and or deep conditioning add an oil to the ends, such as vitamin E, moroccan, Argan, etc to SEAL in the moisture. We do not recommend using coconut oil on our extensions
- Refrain from using hot tools frequently, when doing so be sure to use a heat protectant, your hair extensions are human virgin extensions meaning they can become heat damaged just like your natural hair so treat it as such!!
- Wrap your hair extensions using a silk/satin head scarf or bonnet and or a silk/satin pillowcase, NEVER use cotton head wear or sleep on cotton pillow cases as the cotton soaks the moisture and oils out of your extensions.
- Get a spray bottle fill with part cool water and conditioner, spray mixture on extensions, add defining creme and let air dry, must be done everyday to prevent dry looking curls.
- Do not play/mess with the curls while air drying this will disturb the curl causing frizziness.
- If you cannot air dry use a diffuser attachment to your blow dryer on cool-remember excessive heat loosens the curls.
Other tips
- Using products with "mint" in them may cause your extensions to tangle
- Do not frequently use products containing "alcohol" it WILL dry out your extensions
- DO NOT boil y.t.s hair extensions doing so will cause the hair to loose all nutrition and unable to absorb and maintain moisture you wouldn't wash your natural hair in boiling hot water would you.
